I constructed the train with what I had at the time, with hopes to expand later on with what I’d scavenge on the way. To make sure the creatures of Hell would all fit, I had to sacrifice the size of the furnaces. No more!
Improved Firebox gives you +7 on turn 1 of every battle, almost assuring you can play every card in hand on that turn. It can be good if you have ways to fully utilize it.
Improved Firebox allows for a more consistent turn 1, which is a reasonably good benefit by itself. It can be powerful with -Cost cards and units and spells with high costs, but this strategy is usually not terribly consistent because you cannot rely on drawing specific cards on turn 1.
You can have a deck with just one Banner Unit with a high cost to play such as Shadowsiege or Consumer of Crowns, guaranteeing that you draw that unit on turn 1 thanks to the way Banner Units work, which puts this Artifact to good use, though it is fairly rare to achieve this.
Improved Firebox gets quite a bit better with The Last Divinity (DLC), as the Seekstone becomes available, letting you upgrade an -Cost card with it to consistently get a powerful benefit from Improved Firebox every combat.
