Rarity, or Card Rarity is a mechanic in Monster Train.

There are four Rarity Levels: Common, Uncommon, Rare and Champion.

Clan Card Overview[]

Each clan has 41 cards (excluding cards that are created by other cards, such as Morsels and Hatched Units) consisting of:

  • 1 Original Champion Crown1 and 1 Exiled Champion Crown2
    • 2 Common, not draftable Starter Cards, one for each Champion
  • 9 Banner Units (6 Uncommon, 3 Rare)
  • 28 draftable Spells and Non-Banner Units (8 Common, 12 Uncommon, 8 Rare), including

Drafting Cards[]

This section focuses on draftable cards from each clan, as such Champions, Starter Cards as well as generated Cards, such as Morsels and hatched Units are excluded, even though they have a Rarity level associated with them.

After starting the game with your Starter Deck, there are several ways to draft additional cards:

  • Drafting a Banner Unit from Unit Banners. Banners can only appear on the first 4 Rings on the overworld, and after the first 3 as Battle rewards.
    • Rarity:
      • Uncommon: 91.67% - 55 Tickets (60 Total)
      • Rare: 8.33% - 5 Tickets (60 Total)
  • Drafting a Spell or Non-Banner Unit after a Battle, you always have a choice of three cards.
    • Ring 1 offers two cards: one from your primary clan and one from your allied clan. Rarity:

      • Uncommon: 5.5% - 55 Tickets (1000 Total)
      • Rare: 0.5% - 5 Tickets (1000 Total)

Overview[]

The probability to draft a particular card in each ring takes into consideration that choices in each draft pack are different. The following table lists the probabilities to see a particular card from your primary or allied clan to appear in a specific type of event.

Probability to see a particular card in each Ring
Source Choice Common Draft Uncommon Draft Rare Draft Uncommon Banner Rare Banner
Starting Hand No Choice 12.5% 8.3% - - -
Battle Unit Banner Choice of 3, both clans - - - 22.8% 4.4%
Overworld Unit Banner Choice of 2, one clan - - - 30.4% 5.9%
Ring 1,2 Reward Choice of 3, one clan 34.9% 1.6% 0.2% - -
Ring 4,5,7 Reward Choice of 3, one clan - 22.8% 3.3% - -
Ring 3,6 Reward Choice of 3, both clans - - 18.8% - -

Spells & Non-Banner Units[]

The following table, shows the probability to see a particular Draft card from your primary clan (allied clan only varies in Ring 0) at least one time during the rest of the run based on the current Ring the player is located at. Ring 0 includes the Starter Hand and thus gives the probability to see a specific card in a run. Only regular drafts are considered, so some cards that are available in Concealed Caverns as well are more likely.

For example, if you just fought Daedalus and did not see a specific rare draft card in the rare card pack after Daedalus, your run would greatly benefit from (let's say Transcendimp), your chances to see it in the rest of the run are at around 26.6%.

Probability to see a particular draft card in the rest of the run
Rarity R0 R1 R2 R3 R4 R5 R6 R7
Common 63.0% 57.7% 34.9% - - - - -
Uncommon 59.1% 55.4% 54.7% 54.0% 54.0% 40.3% 22.7% 22.7%
Rare 40.6% 40.6% 40.5% 40.3% 26.6% 24.1% 21.4% 03.3%

The following tables show the probability to see a particular Banner Unit, when a D number of drafts as battle rewards are left, and a B number of unit banners for the specific clan are still to be visited on the overworld. 4 Unit Banners can only appear when using Mutators.

For example, the probability to see Steelworker, when there are still two Hellhorned Banners left on the Overworld and Daedalus Battle reward is still available is at 62.6%.
