Winged Steel is a Clanless Artifact in Monster Train.
Lore[]
The Winged crafted a solid piece of steel to show me the creation process. The runes they placed on it made sure I could not melt it down again for my own use.
Strategy[]
Winged Steel lets you draw a card after you play 3 cards.
Provided that you regularly play 3 or more cards in a turn (which is most of the time in Monster Train), Winged Steel is a Herzal's Compound with a relatively minor drawback, and as such should be strongly considered whenever offered.
The drawback (of not drawing the additional card until after 3 card plays) can be significant early in a run when your deck struggles to play 3 cards in a turn, as it may draw a card that you'd like to play but now do not have the for, like a key unit. Emberstone and Valuestone upgrades, as well as adding cheap spells like Sting or Offering Token, help mitigate this, and it will not usually be a concern by the end of the run. The other situation where Winged Steel isn't as good as usual is if you are making use of Cheater's Hand (The Last Divinity (DLC) only), as Cheater's Hand becomes much less able to save a card until next turn with this Artifact, as when you play 3 cards it will draw the card that you put on top of your deck. However, Cheater's Hand may still be worth picking up with this Artifact, as it does eliminate the possibility of accidentally dead-drawing something important - the two more or less combine for a drawback-free Herzal's Compound.
