As much as it pained me to see the tools of my trade used for such barbaric purposes, the war effort for Hell was in dire need of support. The forges quickly devolved into needless bickering between clans, each one claiming to be the best. Like children, I had to separate them for their own safety and my sanity.
Worn Grindstone gives all your units +5, giving them a little extra punch.
Worn Grindstone is especially helpful early in combats and early in a run, but is a generally useful Artifact that should be considered unless a more compelling option competes against it.
Worn Grindstone does have a downside that a few runs will need to consider - it means that units that have a base value of 0 will now attack enemies, meaning they are now susceptible to Spikes on enemies when they previously were not. This can be important for some frail units like Morsel Miner, Lodestone Totem, or Wildwood Custodian, and may be a reason to skip this Artifact if those units are important to your run, as you'd need to invest in a bit of extra on those units with Worn Grindstone.
